Always something to be done.
You’ve never finished in the garden. We try to have a balance between some more formal areas and then some places where we let nature have more of a free hand. The lilac is at the edge of a bit of more unruly “garden”. Not really garden as we let the nettles grow and wild flowers, anything that decides to make a home there. It doesn’t get trimmed or mowed and no chemicals, I know some people don’t like the untidiness and we are lucky enough to have some space to do it. But I think it’s good for the wildlife and it’s the easiest type of gardening you’ll ever do. It was mother who started having these wild places and we will keep it going. I saw a weasel or a stoat (can’t tell the difference I’m afraid) scuttling away in to the wilderness last week. I expect it was after a rabbit.
This picture is of the Tower Garden. We have been having some work done to renew and improve it, hopefully to revive it. Sadly the rabbits have eaten some of the new plants, but most of them have settled in well and are growing good. I look forward to next year when all the plants are no longer looking so new and the garden begins to develop and gel with its surroundings.
