There are steps up to the sitting room and a step down to the downstairs bedroom, so please be careful, especially anyone with mobility issues.

B1960 make sure to clear the pad and then click each button firmly before turning the knob to open the box.

Check in 4.00pm and check out 10.00am. Please remember to put the bins out before you leave-see below for more information.

Housekeeping

There is a note in the hall about recycling and bins.

Also could I ask that you strip the beds you’ve used before departure.

Please remember to clean up after your four-legged friends and not let them on the beds or sofas

FUSE BOX is in the attic space above the small downstairs sitting room, just off the back door entrance. STOP-TAP is under the kitchen sink.

Walks

If you have brought a four legged friend along you might like to walk your dog in the fields in front of Highgate. Please keep your dog on a lead if there are sheep about.

You can walk to Dacre and the Horse and Farrier. Have a look at the map on the wall in the dining room or the map in the welcome card and follow the footpath to Dacre. You’ll probably need wellies!

You can also walk your dog up to the reservoir building along the track down the side of the A66. You can let your dog off the lead on that section.

Kitchen

There are cloths, tea towels, soap and oven gloves.

1. Extractor fan.

2. Oven
There are two ovens and a grill. It is all straightforward, just turn the knob to the required temperature.

3. Dishwasher
Open door.
Select programme. I would use eco.

There are some dishwasher tablets for you under the sink.

4. Blue Tooth Speaker

Turn on and the volume buttons are on the side of the device – plus and minus. This was obvious to my son, but not to an old girl like me! I wouldn’t download the app as the instructions suggest, just sync your device.

Utility

Turn it on
Turn dial to select programme.
Press start.

2. Drier
Turn it on
Turn dial to select programme.
Press start.

3. Miscellaneous

There are dog bowls in the cupboard for any four legged friends you’ve brought along.

There is an iron and ironing board in the utility.

There are guest soaps for each bathroom.

if you need a rubber mat for the shower, please let us know.

BINS and RECYCLING

Please can you empty all the internal bins (in bathrooms etc) before you leave. Recycling bins by the entrance. Many thanks.

Sitting Room

1. TV
Turn on and choose which channel you would like.
There are TV and radio channels available.

2. Wi-Fi Password
Can be found on a label under the router, password is Huttonjohn3
Capital ‘H’ and the rest lower case.

It is the fastest Wi-fi available.

3. Wood

You can buy wood from the Rheged petrol station on the A66 or from WCF in Penrith, next to Booths.

Septic tank

As we don’t have mains sewerage please can I ask you to not put sanitary products, cotton wool or nappies down the loo. Anything bulky will clog the septic tank and stop it working.

Heating

You can alter the heating by turning the room thermostats, on the radiators, up or down.

Places to Eat

Herdwick Inn (www.theherdwickinn.co.uk) at Penruddock is 11/2 miles away and does a good selection of food, particularly sea food.

Sportman’s Inn (www.the sportsmans.co.uk) is 5 minutes drive from Penruddock and serves good pub grub.
