Safety, Key Code and Check In/Out

Please read the safety notice on arrival so you know what to do in an emergency and you have made a plan of how best to evacuate your party from the property, in the event of a fire. There are new Fire Safety Regulations, as of October 2023. As a result of these Regulations, please do not use candles or charge your electric vehicle at the property. To do so may also invalidate the property’s insurance. There are EV chargers at Rheged petrol station and Booths.

There is a step up to the sitting room/hall and a step up to the downstairs bedroom, so please be careful, especially anyone with mobility issues.

B1869 make sure to clear the pad and then click each button firmly before turning the knob to open the box.

Housekeeping

Please let us know if you require the superking bed as it usually is set up as twin as standard.

There is a note in the hall about recycling and bin collection at the cottage.

Also can I ask that you strip the beds you’ve used before departure.

Please remember to clean up after your dog and prevent them from getting on to the furniture and beds.

Remember to check you’ve collected all your belongings before you leave,

Many thanks for your help,

Walks

If you feel like a walk from the cottage you can try going down to Sparket Mill. Head down towards Ullswater and you’ll come to a small hamlet after about 1/4 mile. Turn right through Sparket and then up the road. It’s very quiet. You’ll come across a footpath sign on your right after a short while and head over to Hutton over the fields. Once you get to Hutton you go over a stile on a dry stone wall. Go over the bridge in Hutton turn right and you’ll find yourself back at Home Farm after about 1/4 mile.

You can get to Dacre and the Horse and Farrier from Home Farm by heading back up the hill toward the A66. You’ll see a footpath on your right where the gate is set back from the road. This leads you to Dacre and fabulous views before you arrive!

Septic tank

As we don’t have mains sewerage please can I ask you to not put sanitary products, cotton wool or nappies down the loo. Anything bulky will clog the septic tank and stop it working.

Miscellaneous

You can alter the heating by turning the radiator thermostats, up or down.

Guest soaps are provided in each bathroom,

FUSE BOX is in the cupboard above the fridge-freezer in the unility. STOP-TAP is outside on the road in front of the gates.

We love the red squirrels, but they like to be fed, so if you are keen to see them you can top up the nut box, I can’t guarantee they’ll appear but they adore hazelnuts! You can buy your own nuts from the Bird’s Biatro in Penruddock and I have also left a box of hazlenuts and peanuts.
