Many thanks for your help,

If you feel like a walk from the cottage you can try going down to Sparket Mill. Head down towards Ullswater and you’ll come to a small hamlet after about 1/4 mile. Turn right through Sparket and then up the road. It’s very quiet. You’ll come across a footpath sign on your right after a short while and head over to Hutton over the fields. Once you get to Hutton you go over a stile on a dry stone wall. Go over the bridge in Hutton turn right and you’ll find yourself back at Home Farm after about 1/4 mile.

You can get to Dacre and the Horse and Farrier from Home Farm by heading back up the hill toward the A66. You’ll see a footpath on your right where the gate is set back from the road. This leads you to Dacre and fabulous views before you arrive!

There are some cloths, soap, tea towels and oven gloves.

There are some dishwasher tablets for you under the sink.

As we don’t have mains sewerage please can I ask you to not put sanitary products, cotton wool or nappies down the loo. Anything bulky will clog the septic tank and stop it working.

You can alter the heating by turning the radiator thermostats, up or down.

Guest soaps are provided in each bathroom,

We love the red squirrels, but they like to be fed, so if you are keen to see them you can top up the nut box, I can’t guarantee they’ll appear but they adore hazelnuts! You can buy your own nuts from the Bird’s Biatro in Penruddock and I have also left a box of hazlenuts and peanuts.

Places to Eat (Close by)

Brackenrigg Inn, (017684 86206) Watermillock is two miles away, just head down to the lake through Bennet Head. It has spectacular views.

Herdwick Inn (017684 83007) at Penruddock is 11/2 miles away and does a good selection of food.

Sportman’s Inn (017684 83231) is 5 minutes drive from Penruddock and is good for kids and serves good pub grub.

Hope you have a lovely stay in the Lakes.
