If you feel like a walk from the cottage you can try going down to Sparket Mill. Head down towards Ullswater and you’ll come to a small hamlet after about 1/4 mile. Turn right through Sparket and then up the road. It’s very quiet. You’ll come across a footpath sign on your right after a short while and head over to Hutton over the fields. Once you get to Hutton you go over a stile on a dry stone wall. Go over the bridge in Hutton turn right and you’ll find yourself back at Home Farm after about 1/4 mile.
You can get to Dacre and the Horse and Farrier from Home Farm by heading back up the hill toward the A66. You’ll see a footpath on your right where the gate is set back from the road. This leads you to Dacre and fabulous views before you arrive!
