The Spring weather has been a meteorological smorgasbord. Easter was so hot and gloriously sunny. I always fear that when we get such an unexpected burst of Summer so early in the year, that that will be the zenith of our year and what will follow is just greyness and rain. However this year, although we have had rather a lot of wet weather, this has been followed by more lovely sun and bright blue skies. From a farming perspective I think we have reached that point where more rain is needed. It is not a drought as in 2018, but a small prayer to the Rain Gods is starting to seem necessary. The fabulous weather has resulted in a great show of bluebells this year. I head on the radio this morning that spending time in the woods, not exactly talking to the trees, but listening to the noise of Mother Nature and no doubt enjoying its colour and smells, is good for you. There was another study or other to reveal this truism. It was authored by some erudite people and probably cost a small fortune. I try not to be cynical but didn’t we know this already?

You only need spend a few moments amongst the bluebells on a bright blue-skied afternoon whilst out with your favourite companion (and sometimes it’s quite acceptable to take the family) and all those people who have frustrated and annoyed you and all the general irritations of the week: they are all forgotten. Nature is a great healer, we should look after her better.
