Obsessed with the Weather- Not Me!

Changing skies in the Lakes District

It is such an English trait to comment on the weather. That’s whether the weather is good or bad. Are we all obsessed, I’m sure it is not just me. However I think that living where I do enables me to be that bit more involved with the changing weather patterns. I am still amazed by how different the weather can be in the space of a few short days. I took this photo in 8 Jan this year because I couldn’t believe what a perfect blue the sky was. Pure blue.

Caribbean Blue Skies in the Lake District

I took the picture with the tree devoid of leaves to remind me this was the middle of Winter in the Lakes. Beautiful although very cold. It makes you think of Summer and warmer times. This week has been a different feeling altogether. We have had some proper snow and freezing temperatures. But at the beginning of the week my niece caught an extraordinary play of light. It gives an ethereal quality to the landscape. I wish I had taken the picture. It almost looks as though she has altered the image, but it is just as she took the phot, completely unadulterated.

Illuminating the Fells

Two days later and walked through the same fields and it looks like a different world. The snow has fallen in a think layer of sugar frosting and it is so cold the sheep are glad of their woolly coats. This is not exactly the same view, but it’s not far off.

A Different World?

I’m very lucky to live here, but I think I may be repeating myself.

Three beautiful and lovingly restored cottages. Where heritage meets modern-day living.

Sleeps 4, 6, or 10.

Four contemporary cabins, immersed in nature. Where the outdoors meets luxury.

Sleeps 2.

Passed down through generations, our family and history are at the heart of the approximately 300 acre Hutton John Estate.
