life on the estate

The Lake District is a stunning place to visit any time of the year and is lucky enough to be gorgeous even in the (sometimes perpetual) rain. Our beautiful corner of the Lake District is home to a host of wildlife and has a character all of it’s own. This Journal tells of moments in time upon the Estate and will give you a seasonal view of the place we wish to share with you.

After all we had had a week or so of bright, mild temperatures, the snowdrops were past their best and… Read more »

Another 5 star rating for our luxury holiday let in the Lake District We were so pleased to find out that Home Farm had received a 5 star rating, so we were a little nervous as to whether Lacet Cottage would do it too. You try your best to make sure that your holiday cottage… Read more »

Insta obsession: well not yet. I have been writing this blog for seven months and I thought perhaps it was time to spread my wings and really move in to the 21st century. Now I am not technologically minded. I have only had a smart phone for the last year and you wouldn’t call me… Read more »

January 18th, 2018

Changing skies in the Lakes District It is such an English trait to comment on the weather. That’s whether the weather is good or bad. Are we all obsessed, I’m sure it is not just me. However I think that living where I do enables me to be that bit more involved with the changing… Read more »
